8 minutes of Hell

I got this workout from speed coach John Davies. He has trained many famous athletes. His workouts are controversial because they are so intense. I finish one of my extreme cardio classes with this eight minute workout. John Davies 8 minute workout:

You do each of the following exercises for 30 seconds and then without rest go on to the next one. You go for 8 minutes nonstop for a total of 4 rounds.

Here's a description of each exercise:

Jumping jacks - you guys know this one, just remember to do as many as you can

Shuffle splits - Basically a simple "boxer" type of movement where you shuffle the feet back and forth in quick fashion. Feet are approximately two feet apart; movement is nice and quick.

Burpees - From a standing position, jump as high as possible and land down on your haunches with your hands on the ground. Kick your feet back (for a moment you'll be in a push-up position) quickly bring them in and then jump as high as you can. Repeat

Star Jumps - From a low crouch position with your hands on your feet, jump as high as possible to a spread eagle or "star" position. Land and repeat.

This pattern looks easy but it's really tough. The first time I tried it my heart rate was over 190 after only two minutes. Remember to really push yourself and try to do as many of each exercise as you can. WARNING After the workout, you might feel a little sick. Good luck!
