Crazy 8's

This is a Cycling pattern from (pattern 11364)

This cycling pattern is a mainstay in all of my cycling classes. I use it for interval training, taking the participants to an anaerobic state and then we take a break. Here's how it works:

Use a song with a fairly fast beat such as the theme from Top Gun or Feel The Beat (NYC After Dark) and have the class cycle to the beat (precision cycling) using enough resistance so that you have to push as if going up a hill. Count eight beats cycling to the beat and then break away for 8 counts as fast as you can go. Do this pattern 8 times, resulting in "Crazy 8's". I then let them have a rest for about a minute and I increase the pattern to crazy 16's but we only do it 4 times. i.e. 16 to the beat, 16 fast - 4 times. Then if they aren't tired enough yet, you can increase it to crazy 32's!!!
