Barb's Advanced Step 1

This is a Step pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 11418)

This is a self-reversing combo. North is the front of the room, south is the back of the room.

Part 1: (Block 1 right lead, Block 2 left lead, Block 3 right lead, Block 4 left lead)

Part 2: (Block 1 left lead, Block 2 right lead, Block 3 left lead, Block 4 right lead)

Block 1:

(right lead)

8 count breakdown of repeater x 2: (left foot on step (1), right knee (2), right tap on floor (3), right knee (4), right tap on floor (5), hop turn on left foot to face south (6), right foot down (7), left foot down (8)

(facing south)

Block 2:

(left lead)

Block 3:

(right lead, facing west)

16 count breakdown, facing west: right foot on step (1), left foot on step (2), Lunge right/left/right (3-8), left foot down (9), right foot down (10), across left (11-14), jack (turning to face east) (15-16)

Variation 1: (after above 16 counts)

Hop squat: Facing west, right foot on step, left foot on floor. Propel up and turn 180 degress in air, so that left foot is on step and right foot on floor. Make plyometric move by freezing after landing to minimize momentum. Hop squat right/left x 4 ends with left foot on the bench. Keep it there to begin Block 1 on left lead with right knee, facing north.

Variation 2: (after above 16 counts)

16 count breakdown of Variation 2: left foot on step (1), right knee (2), right foot down on right side of step (3), left foot down on left side of step (4), right foot on step (5), left knee (6), left foot down on left side of step (7), right foot down of right side of step (8), left foot on step, exit left (9-12), over right (13-16). ). Ready to begin Block 1 on left lead with right knee, facing north.

Block 4:

This is an additonal add-on, instead of reversing lead on Block 1 after completing Block 3. Starts with left foot closest to step, facing northeast the same position as if to reverse Block 1. Since its fairly complicated, it is best demonstrated in slow motion, count by count, before class.

Block 4, Part 1, 1st 8 counts:

8 count breakdown: left foot on step, facing northeast (1), hop on left foot, swinging right leg behind left leg (2), right foot on floor (3), left foot mambo backwards (4), right foot forward on floor (5), left foot on bench, crossing over right leg (6), hop on left foot (7), right foot on floor with left knee up (8)

Block 4, Part 2, 2nd 8 counts:

Counts 17 32: Reverse Parts 1 and 2, facing northwest with right foot closest to step, swinging left leg behind
