Slapp's Core Stability for the Wet People

Here is an idea to satisfy the never-ending whine about not doing enough abs in an Aqua class, you can also say 'Core Stability' alot to impress. It is not recommended for non-swimmers or hip replacements. What you do is make a 'pretzel knot' out of your woggle (noodle) and then get your people to sit on it, feet off the floor- this usually results in mass hilarity and a couple of spectacular wipe-outs. When they have all calmed down cue a 'bolt upright' sitting position with all layers of abs engaged, scapulae retracted and a straight knee-hip line using arms as outriggers for balance. When good balance is achieved they need to start moving- breast stroke forward, row back, doggie paddle sideways, whatever you can think of. Also a trunk twist on the spot, shoulders facing forwards but using hands and those bent legs in oppostion to point knees 'east and west'(does that make sense? Just think about doing 'the twist'). If you use mitts it's harder and also a great arm workout.

It is effective and fun as they try to stay on the knot- you can award Wipeout of the Night, I think my people get a double abs workout from the laughing.
