Snake (also known as "The Wave")
This is a
Cycling pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 11679)
I made this one up recently. It's nice to throw in something
different.
Use a fast song with a strong beat - I used Survivor by
Destiny's Child (6 minutes long).
Have the class ride a medium-fast pace on a flat road
(make sure they are above push point). Ask them to listen to
the beat of the music.
- Cyclist #1 stands on beat #1 of a new "32 count group"
- Cyclist #2 (next to cyclist #1) stands on beat #5
- Cyclist #3 stands on beat #9
- etc.
As you go around the room a new cyclist stands every 4
beats. Hence, it looks like a snake, or a "wave".
- When you get back to cyclist #1, wait for the start of
a new "32 count group", and then have cyclist #1
sit down.
- Cyclist #2 then sits on beat #5
- Cyclist #3 then sits on beat #9
- etc.
As the song goes on, I leave everyone standing for an extra
"32 count group" before initiating the next sitting part.
