Karen's Hi/Lo Circuit Blast

This is a Hi/Lo pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 11825)

I had the opportunity to sub a Hi/Lo circuit class this week. I had a blast teaching it! And I think the members had a blast taking it. The normal instructor usually just alternates 4-5 minute segments of aerobics and body sculpting. I chose to make it a true circuit class. Most of the class was pretty skeptical at first, but I had lots of compliments after class. Hope you and your class enjoys it!

Circuit Stations:

Set-up stations before class.

Divide class into 8 groups.--I had a class of about 20, so I divided them into groups of 2-3.

Each group starts at their numbered station for circuit segments.

Circuit stations are done in 1-minute intervals. Then each group changes to the next station until they have completed the entire circuit.

The stations marked "intensity" are meant to be intensity cardio intervals. Participants should do these exercises as hard or as fast as they can for as long as they can. When they fatigue, they should slow down, but not stop. Be sure they maintain proper form at all times.

Class Format:

Total time: 54 minutes

I had 1 hour 15 minutes for this class, so I finished with abs and stretching. But you could easily finish here with stretching for an hour long class.

I hope I didn't forget anything here. And I hope it's all understandable. This was a great class. It's a lot of work for the instructor because you're trying to supervise so many activities at once. It also helped that I demonstrated the exercises for each station at the beginning of class.

This is not the class for you to get your own workout done. I spent most of the class walking around the room, reminding the members about form and technique. It also keeps them from cheating if they know the teacher is watching!
