"The Box" Combo
This is a
BoxAerobics pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 11193)
This combo is one of my class favorites (the students love
it too):
I use this combo with the song "Because I Got it Like
That" a remix by the Jungle Brothers with Fatboy Slim. It fits
the movements perfect but of course different music would
also work.
Start facing the front:
- First just step-touch back & forth 8x.
- Then turn into a 4-count touch that alternates your
stances (i.e., start off in the southpaw stance, then:
1- bring right foot back, 2- step left foot over toward
the left, 3- step right foot over toward the left, 4-
left foot steps into the orthodox stance. This forms what
I can a "Box". Repeat this sequence 2x8 until they get the
hang of it. (With the song "Because I Got it Like That"
you are moving nice & easy so it is very easy to catch
on - just describing it is not easy :-).
- Then turn the alternating stances into alternating front
snap kicks (i.e., from the southpaw stance: southpaw snap
kick, step, step, orthodox snap kick -- still 4-counts).
Repeat this 2x8.
- Then turn the alternating stances into alternating side
kicks (i.e., from the southpaw stance: southpaw side kick,
step, step, orthodox side kick). Repeat this 2x8.
- Then finally combine the alternating stances into
alternating snap kicks & side kicks (i.e., from the
southpaw stance: southpaw snap kick, southpaw side kick,
step, step, orthodox snap kick, orthodox side kick). Keep
repeating this sequence 2x8.
Really funking moves that really works your legs! Makes
it more fun so they don't notice the pain as much!!
Keep on kickin'!!
