Let's Dance
This is a
Quad Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 11579)
On the last day of class I like to do something that is
fun, but more challenging than my students think it will be.
This dance class proved so popular that my students keep
giving me ideas of what to put on the next one. I've put the
name of the song and some of the moves we did during them.
- The Hustle: moving back and forth, changing arms, adding
kicks
- Hey Hey We're The Monkees: doing the monkey walk where
they cross in front of one leg and sweep out
- Conga: start off in a line and let the students take turns
changing the exercises
- The Locomotion: use the arms to push one way, scoop back,
then jump forward, back and swing hips during
the chorus
- Midnight Confessions: pony up and back
- Macarena: hands down, hands up, to shoulder, to ear, to
front hip, to back hip and roll
- Let's Twist Again: twist
- Hernando's Hideaway: tango, just walking with lots of
attitude
- Surf City: alternate hitchhike and punching bags to the
sides, swim in bridge, twist in chorus
- The Charleston: charleston
- The Stroll: the stroll
- Bailamos: salsa forward during the verse, out during the
chorus, add cha cha
- Peanuts theme song: hops, bongo arms*
- Shimmy, Shimmy, Ko-ko-Bop: 4 corners 2 up and back 4
times, hop up and back 4 times (slowly), shimmy during
chorus
- What a Feeling: alternate between jacks and cross country
during verse, jog fast during chorus
- Bunny Hop: bunny hop
- The Chicken Dance: chicken dance
- Hokey Pokey: hokey pokey
* bongo arms, cup your hands and keep them moving like you
are hitting bongo drums
Enjoy - and let me know if you come up with any songs for
another mix
