Floating Abs

This is an Aquatic pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 11580)

This can be done in deep or shallow water.

Have your pupils float on their backs, using 2 aquatic dumbbells for support. Get them to sink their hips, leaving their feet on the surface of the water. They should exhale whilst sinking and inhale as they push their hips back up to the surface.

Next, get them to reach forwards with the dumbbells to touch their feet as they sink their hips. This should be done as slowly as possible. They should then push their hips back up and stretch their arms behind their heads.

The next stage is to take the dumbbells underneath their legs and lift their feet completely out of the water. Again, encourage the movement to be done in a slow, controlled fashion. The slower they push their hips back up to the surface, the more they will feel it.
