Around We Go!
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 11597)
Looks can be deceiving. This is *much* easier than it
appears and flows together very well. I taught this to
beginners and advanced steppers and they all enjoyed it.
There are only three combos, so take your time building one
and three :o)
- 2x Basic (8) (or basic jogs)
- 2x V-step (8)
- 1x Knees around the world (16)
- 1x Double knee at left corner (4)
- 1x Jack on floor (4)
- 1x Double knee at right corner (4)
- 1x Jack on floor (4)
- 1x L-step forward (1/2 an L) (4)
- 1x Across the top long and back (8)
- 1x L-step back (finish the L) (4)
Repeat left lead
- 2x Curls (corner to corner) (8)
- 1x Over the top and BACK (8) (move back to short end
as you go over)
- 3x Turnsteps (12)
- 1x Mambo (or pivot) (4)
Repeat left lead
- 1x Horseshoe (turn, straddle, turn) (8)
- 1x Step left foot up, right foot up and then left foot off
the short end (4)***
- 1x Left basic (4)***
- 4x Step knee on floor (as if you are going corner to
corner (16)
- 1x Step up and lunge back 6x and exit (16)
- 1x Step up and lunge side to side 6x and exit left (16)
- 2x A-steps (8)
- 1x Over the top & abduct (8)
- 2x Slow squats (moving across the top) (8)
- 1x Rocking horse (swing the last curl over the top so
you end up on the other side of the step) (8)
Repeat left lead
Thanks Terri Kennedy for the end of combo #3 and whatever
else I may have borrowed from you!
The hardest part of this workout for the students is really
the easiest move... step up and off the short end followed by
a basic on the short end (in combo #3). The horseshoe is
Turn, Straddle, Turn and then TAP DOWN (it doesn't go all
the way around like some of the students will want to do)
Show it before the class begins, along with the horseshore, get
them to practice it before you begin and they usually do just
fine.
