Noodle Balancing Act

This is an Aquatic pattern from (pattern 12362)

This move is great for balance and laughter!

Begin by telling the participants to spread out away from one another. Then, have the participants "stand on your noodle". To do this, the participant makes a U shape with the noodle and puts one foot on the middle of the curve and steps down, putting the foot/noodle to the floor. Next, put the other foot on the noodle.

Once most participants seem to be standing on their noodles, tell them to "waddle across the pool". This usually gets exclamations of disbelief and peals of laughter as the participants attempt to move across the pool with the noodle under their feet/against the floor. Remind them to keep the abs and gluts tight, back straight. Also, I tell them to "try not to torpedo your neighbors"!

This is sometimes difficult for older/lighter/weaker participants. The modification would be to stand on the noodle with only one foot, move across the pool, and then switch feet.

My participants love this one because I work with many older adults. This really works on balance, so I remind them that, "the best place to practice balance is in the water, where if you fall over, you don't get hurt."
