Heartrate Pyramids

This is a Cycling pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 13018)

Here's what we did last night in my 45-minute Spinning class. It can be adapted if you teach a longer or shorter class, obviously.

Warm-up 3 minutes

Pyramid 1:

Pyramid 2:

It was a killer, but the best part was how quickly they recovered and how much easier it was to work at the 85-90% level the second time. They really worked hard and got a lot out of the exercise.

If many of your participants don't wear a heart rate monitor (HRM), you'll have to talk them through how it should feel at each level and give them specific instructions on how to raise or lower their heart rate. It's much easier to teach if they're all wearing a HRM.

Good luck!
