Sonia's ABC's of Step (Routine EE) Basic to Intermediate, Tapless

This is a Step pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 13448)

Step is horizontal. All combos are 32 counts, self-reversing and tapless. Notes and choreo follow. Options are in (....) and will take this to an intermediate choreo level or a more intense level. For combos 3 and 5 pick the one that fits your class the best! Hope you enjoy these.

Combo 1

Repeat left.

Combo 2

Repeat left.

Combo 3 (Basic)

Repeat left.

Combo 3 (Intermediate)

Repeat left.

Combo 4

Repeat left.

Combo 5 (Basic)

Repeat left.

Combo 5 (Intermediate)

Repeat left.

Notes: Traveling is alternate leads moving corner to corner. When it just says alternate leads you stay in the center of the step.

Try weaving the combos once the class is comfortable with them.

Choreography:

Combo 1

T-step: (1,2) step up right/left, (3,4) step out wide on top right/left, (5,6) step in on top right/left, (7,8) exit right/left.

Tap 'n' Clap repeater: (1) step up right, (2,3,4,5,6) tap the left toes up, down, up, down, up....clap with each tap up, (7,8) exit left/right.

Note: after 5 minutes of cardio the T-step can be offered as an I-step for more intensity. The Tap 'n' Clap repeater can be done with a small hop on each tap up for more intensity too.

Combo 2

V's Around the World: (1,2) step up wide right/left, (3,4) step down right and left with a 1/4 turn right, (5,6) step forward wide on the floor right/left, (7,8) step back right/left with a 1/4 turn right (you should be facing back now), (9,10) step forward wide on the floor right/left, (11,12) step back right/left with a 1/4 turn right, (13,14) step forward wide on the floor right/left, (15/16) step back right/left with a 1/4 turn right to face the step again. Only the first V is done on the step. This turns you to face each wall so you make a complete circle.

Combo repeater: a knee lift, an abductor, and a hamcurl done as a repeater.

Combo 3

Jumpshots can be done as taps up and down around the end also.

Double kick walk back: (1) step up right, (2,3,4) kick the left leg 2x (with control!), (5,6) walk backward around the end left/right, (7,8) walk forward left/right.

Combo 4

All basic moves. Add whatever you want to jazz up the L-steps! If you want some ideas please email me.

Combo 5

Chugs are just a push of the foot on the step - the opposite foot lifts slightly - the rock back is like counts 3/4 of a mambo.

In the intermediate combo you do 2 chugs, step up on the top and straddle down. From the straddle, skip on top: (1) step up right, (2) lift the left knee, (3) left steps on top, (4) right knee lifts, (5) right steps on top, (6) left knee lifts, (7,8) exit the step left/right. When doing this skipping motion the feet should be slightly apart forward and back along the step rather than side by side as you are working on the step the long way.

Heel digs can be traveled or alternated in the center.
