Note: If it is easier to transition into Combo 5, you can add 2 more jumping jacks (2)
Note: The hover/jump kick is not for beginners. They may not have the ab and back strength.
Combine Combos 1 - 5 and repeat as many times as you want. Hop it out. Good time for heartrate. Repeat with left leg lead.
I usually teach combo 1 on the right and then the left side by simply hopping it out between each side. I teach them combo 1 (each side) then combo two (each side) then combine combo 1 and 2. I then teach combo 3 (each side) then combine combos 1,2, and 3, ... and so on. It really is a lot of fun when the 5 combos are put together! I thought that this note would help those just starting out with aerobic kickboxing.
Note: connecting combos 2 to 3 - when on right leg lead, start combo 3 by stepping out to the right into the neutral foot starting position and throwing the right jab at the same time, and vice versa, when on left leg lead, start combo 3 by stepping out to the left into the neutral foot starting position and throwing the last jab at the same time.
If you concentrate on form, you will find that the workout is quite challenging and is great for developing muscle tone. Just a few tips: remember to pull your punches, remember to pivot on the crosses and side kicks to protect the knees, remember to tighten your abs to support your lower back, and remember to breath.
