Sonia's ABC's of Step (Routine DD)

This is a Step pattern from (pattern 13388)

Horizontal, tapless, 32 counts, self-reversing, basic/intermediate. Right lead directions are given. Choreography notes follow.

Combo 1

Repeat left.

Combo 2

Repeat left.

Combo 3

Repeat left.

Combo 4

Repeat left.

Combo 5

Repeat left.

Here is the choreography. I will give the moves according to the foot that would be started with in each combo:

Combo 1:
All basic moves. Note that the lunges are done from the top of the step and are the lead change. This combo works well for the warm-up too.

Combo 2:
Turnstep freeze: (1,2) begin a right lead turnstep, (3) right foot to floor, left pulls off the step at the same time, (4) freeze in position 3... you can clap the hands overhead to help you keep on beat here. Repeat with a left lead.

Shuffle stroll: with your right foot on the step and your left foot on the floor...(1&2) cha cha cha (aka, triple step) moving forward, (3,4) walk forward on the floor left and right, (5-8) turning toward the step (to your right) walk back to the step left/right/left/right. Counts 5/6 can also be as a pivot. This is a lead change.

Diagonal turn: with left side to step, (1,2) walk diagonally on the step left/right, (3,4) exit the step turning in as you step down (forward around the right shoulder) so that your left side is still to the step. You are looking back the same way you came from. (5-8) Repeat, taking you back to where you started.

Combo 3
V-shake: (1,2) up in a V, (3-6) shake the hips right/left/right/left, (7,8) exit the step right/left. OR: (1,2) up in a V, (3,4) shake the hips right/left, (5) hop both feet in on top, (6) lift the right knee, (7,8) exit right/left.

Broadway knee: left lead, (1,2) step up left, lift the right knee, (3,4,5) walk back on the floor right/left/right, (6) lift the left knee, (7,8) walk back to the step left/right. Can also kick on count 6 instead of lifting the knee.

Combo 4
Indecisions around the world: left lead, left side to step (1,2) step up left/right, (3/4) straddle down left/right, (5,6) step up on top left/right, (7,8) exit the front of the step left/right turning in so your left side is to the step. Repeat the 8 counts again to get back home. This make a circle.

Combo 5
Zorro/Z-step: this is just two step touches on top of the step and 2 step touches on the floor. Make the movements big to resemble a Z.

Tap 'n' clap repeater: (1) step up right, (2-6) tap up left 3x, clapping each time you tap up, (7,8) exit the step left/right. For more intensity the tap up can be done with a small hop.

Once your class learns these you can weave the combos too!
