Interval for Dummies

This is a very basic program for a beginning instructor and/or beginning level participants. We are constantly inundated with comments that our classes are too hard for entry level participants. Here is an option. Participants will only need 1 set of 3 or 5 pound weights. This class is not very challenging, but it may encourage them to come back and then you can gradually build the class or encourage them to try other more challenging classes later.

Warm-up: march in place (3-5 minutes)

Cool-down 3-5 minutes of marching

Simple pilates moves (show modifications)


Chorus line lunges: Have everyone extend arms out (like putting arms around next person's shoulder) in line. Everyone steps with right leg first (emphasize an exaggerated step forward to avoid the knee passing in front of the toe). This helps everyone keep their balance and lets them have a little fun.
