First and foremost, let me begin by saying that this site is AWESOME!!!! I have borrowed everyting from vertical, horizontal, and double step to hi-low to body sculpt! You are all great and keep the ideas and combos coming!
A Beginner Step Idea: I've noticed that no matter how many times a person comes to my beginner step class that they don't mind reviewing basic patterns. If a member feels comfortable moving on to more complex moves, they will come to an intermediate or advanced class. So, here's what I do once a week. ( I teach 2 beginner step classes each week.) I begin my warm up at a tempo between 122-125 bpm. I use this for both the floor and the box warm up. I review basics, v-steps, turnsteps, etc. and then through in several moves that will be used later in combos. After the slower bpm warm-up, I use a different cd or pitch up the tempo to 126-128 (is there are "advanced beginners" in my classes.)Some combos I use beginner step class: (box is horizontal, combos are 32 counts, self-reversing, combos begin with right lead)

**Step up right, left (beats 1,2), 2 jacks on the box (beats 3, 4, 5, 6) exit right, left (beats 7, 8)**
Please note that many of these combos have the same moves in them repeatedly. I mix these up until they are comfortable and then I know I have 7-8 moves I can use that they can do with great confidence, and that's what makes step fun for beginners! Please, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me! I would be glad to answer any questions, comments, or concerns you might have about my combos!
