When I began introducing this pattern about 4 weeks ago - I felt a bit ho hum about it but with a little fine tuning and practice it has become quite fun - good mix of cardio with challenges interspersed and thought provoking choreography. Hope this inspires someone else out there.
Repeat with left lead
Left lead moves back
Repeat left lead and face back to front on the abductions (I like to ask a strong student to anchor the west side when we do the directional change - makes them feel good, too - I think?) (If I have a group that is really having trouble getting the basics, I leave out the directional change on this)
Last but not least - this is a very fun block:
Repeat left lead - once they get this if they want an option: change the second walk to a pendulum which makes it a lot of fun. I cue students to use their hands to let someone in front of them know if they're getting too close on our big travels like this.
In our currently stress filled uncertain world - it is so important to help our students reduce their own stress levels via exercise and to help buoy spirits the same way so keep on dancing... Hi to all my turnstep buddies,
Aloha, Petrina
