Saturday AM steppin'
This is a
Step pattern from

(pattern 13854)
Combo 1
Right leg lead
- Three hamcurl skate turn 2x (right leg led two curls on top, step down with right foot, turning your side to the
step and hamcurl left/ repeat left leg lead (12 count total)
- Turn straddle (4 count)
- Mambo pivot to back (4 count) (right leg lead, right foot on step, left foot steps forward on floor past the
end of your step, right foot pivots- during the break down I will do a basic step here at the end and then
add next step which is-)
- Shuffle turn 1x (4 count)
- Corner knees alternating 2x
Combo 2
Left leg lead
- L-step to end and knee lift back (to make this more interesting I take the knee lift coming back and turn it on
the floor, toward the step and finish with the 2 counts walking left and right. It's exactly the same movement
but feels totally different) (8 count)
- Leg lift corners 2 alternating (8 count)
- One mambo at the end of the step (face the end) (4 count)
- Up up lunge back & front, then face front and shoot back right and left then step down right, left (12 count)
Combo 3
Right leg lead
- 3 Corner stomp (stay at the third corner and march or pivot on that third stomp) (10 count total with march or pivot)
- Repeater 3 kick (a little ball change in between them is fun) (8 count)
- Stomp one and straddle 2x (6 count)
- Leg lift corners (an easy way to teach this: Do the 3 corner stomp then a double kick, two knee straddles then the leg lift to corners)
Combo 4
Left leg lead
- V-step swoop: One V-step, begin moving to the right, one mambo on the floor past the step then chachacha to back of step (8 count)
- Walk or chasse to front of step and over the top change corners (8 count)
- One kick on the corner and walk all the way to the front (8 count)
- Double knee and back trac(walk backwards after the double knee, around to back to the back side) (8 count)
Combo 5
The Finale! Right leg lead
- Two knees turn around (two knees on top going diagonally across the top to front, step down with right foot,
pivot with the left foot then walk left, right back toward the step in front, Go across to the back the same
way) (16 count)
- Shooters & down (go to the top of step, shoot right & left off the front of step then exit to back of step
right) (8 count)
- The Finale! Stomp one on corner right leg lead (counts 1,2,3- Step up in center with left foot (count 4) and
immediately tap right toe then left toe out to side on top of step (counts 5 & 6) Step down LEFT then right
(counts 7&8)). You will need to remind them that the last toe that taps comes down first.
The finale is quick and a little scary to teach because it is hard to break down. I have found the easiest thing to
do is do it half time in the warm up and when it comes time to add it in the combo run through combos 1-5 up to
that point (that way their heart rate is up) then I do it slow 2-3 times, then do it fast 2-3 times.
This routine weaves really well as all the combos self reverse and transition well to the next one. Good luck!
