AAAI Cape Cod Step - Advanced
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 13624)
Combo 1:
- Single kick to left corner step down facing back, as you step down move away from bench
- Turn front and walk 4 to opposite corner
- 4 Skips or shuffles on the floor moving all they way around the step [you can also just walk around to the front]
Repeat single kick leading left
Combo 2:
- Double knee straddle (1-6)
- Stomp straddle, stomp exit face opposite corner (7-12)
- Single hamstring (13-16)
- On the opposite corner tap the top as you travel to the front (1-4)
- Go directly into a reverse turn straddle (5-8)
- On top of bench step knee step knee (9-12) keep 2nd knee up
- Lunge single, lunge double with a pop-knee face back of room (13-20)
- Turn straddle (21-24)
- Shuffle the bench 2x's (25-32)
Repeat double knee leading left
Combo 3:
- Stomp the floor 2
- Step up right left, right foot to floor lift left knee
- Step up left right, left foot to floor lift right knee
- Step up up, down down [regular basic]
- Full 360 pivot on floor [step turn, step turn]
- Mambo cha cha [lead same direction as pivot]
- 1/2 Pivot [step turn] cha cha single knee on corner
Repeat stomp on floor leading left
Combo 4:
- Half-time basic (slow count)
- Tempo exit and return to top of bench
- Alternating lunge back 3
- *Sumo L-step pendulum across top
- *Sumo exit
- Single knee opposite corner, 1 jack on floor
Repeat half-time basic leading left
Combo 5:
- **Zig-Zag tap on top
- Cha cha or box step on floor
- Reverse turn
- Knee up straddle
- Knee up cross back step down to "regular" side of bench
Repeat zig-zag tap leading left
Combo 6:
- 3 Hams on top (skate) on 3rd ham curl turn to face left and step off short end of bench away from bench
- L-step facing left on "front" of bench heel dig on top
- Bring it back to "regular" side of bench with a single knee
- Turnstep, grapevine facing back of room (your bottom is to bench)
Repeater with Running Man option or regular repeater
Repeat 3 hams leading left
I took pieces of the different presenters to make this class. Some of the counts are syncopated. I only "numbered" combo 2 because it is the most difficult to break down.
Sumo L-step. Think of how a Sumo wrestler gets into the ring. He stomps his left foot then his right foot in a wide squat. When you execute the Sumo L off the right corner stomp your left foot on the bench and your right foot on the floor. Go directly into the pendulum across. Exit with left foot stomp on floor right foot stomp on bench push yourself away from bench as you stomp right.
