Nanc's Boot Camp Combo

This is a BoxAerobics pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 14254)

Here we go: start 'em off with jumping jacks, and keep it simple: 2 jumping jacks, front snap kick left, front snap kick right. 8-16 reps, then simply add an 8-count squat thrust - squat all the way down (1-2), kick both legs back (3-4)-(don't let the back sink here), bring the legs back to the low squat (5-6), and up (7-8) Modification: squat down (1-2), back with one leg (3), then the other (4), bring the first leg back (5), then the other (6), and up (7-8).

Modification for the jumping jack, just step out to the side with one leg and return it, then the other leg, but keep the arms the same as a regular jumping jack: up and down.

Then, change it up a bit: one jumping jack (1-2), kick left (3-4), kick right (5-6), quick elbow strike right forward and back (6-7). The elbow strike forward and happens as the right snap kick is returning to the floor. Then, proceed to the squat thrust.

Obviously, you can remove the squat thrust from this combination and just keep the first 8 counts. It's nice to change up those first 8 counts, though, so you can do plenty of squat thrusts and they don't notice them as much when you are changing up the first part of the combination.

Okay, one last thing: I don't normally do more than 16 count combinations in my kick class, but one way to add some fun during a boot camp format is when the class brings back the legs during the squat thrust, add 4 push-ups, then return up and start the whole thing over.

Looks like this:

It's really not as bad as it seems, considering the push ups take up so many of the counts.

Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions. Don't forget the modifications for the jumping jacks, squat thrusts, and knees down for the push ups. Since they are only doing 4 at a time and on a wood floor, most of my participants don't modify the push-ups, or they will just hold the push up position instead of going down and up.
Enjoy!
