Mystery Bootcamp

To add variation to my bootcamp class, I sometimes use a bag filled with slips of paper on which I've written an exercise and a duration (like "Push ups, 45 seconds" or "Crunches, 75 seconds"). After the warmup, each participant pulls a slip of paper out of the bag and then we do that exercise for the time on the slip. I have a discard bag that we put the slips of paper into so we don't end up doing too much of one exercise. It usually ends up being a good work out and the added element of surprise makes it kind of fun. On some of the slips, I write "You choose the exercise, 60 seconds" - the hardcore participants pick a tough one and others might go with something easier. I time the exercises with a stopwatch and I usually call the next person to pick an exercise when we're down to 5 seconds so we keep things moving.
