TV Land

This is an Aquatic pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 13976)

We all love the various television stations now that rerun our old favorites. How about using the familiar music from these shows for your shallow or deep classes?

Buy or make your own tape/cd with oldies television theme songs. For the cardio portion of class, play the music and give students (as a group) about 30-45 seconds (this is their recovery) to "name that tune". If they can, they do a variation of one move for the rest of the song, i.e. ski - regular, power, with a twist, etc. If they don't guess the name of the song, they must do intervals of your choice for the complete song.

I have Hill Street Blues, Peter Gunn, and Rockford Files to name a few. Be sure to include some songs that are difficult to guess. The whole point is you want there to be some intervals. But it's much more fun when they think they were "so" close to not having to do them.
