St. Louis Trench 2
This is a
Double Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 14443)
This is double vertical, teaching from between the benches (the "trench").
Home (H) is on the left, Away (A) is on the right. I teach from a left lead on (H).
*if you prefer to always start on a right lead, then change the right bench to (H) and start all the patterns on a right lead from there. I don't do this because it confuses my members, who are used to the (H) bench always being on the left :)

1.
- Left lead up and lunge x3/exit inside (H) (10)
- Right lead up and lunge x3/exit inside (A) (10)
- Left lead knee up (H) (4)
- Turnstep x2 (A) (H) (8)
Repeat right lead (A)
3.
- Left lead side leg lift (H) (4)
- Right lead scissor over (crossing outside knee behind as you go over the bench) (A) (4)

- Left lead curl (H) (4)
- Right lead double curl (A) (6)
- Left lead scissor over (H) (4)
- Right lead straddle (indecision) over (H) (8) *option: you can hop up onto the bench coming up from the straddle, pause, then exit middle.
Repeat right lead (A)
7.
- Walk to the left around front of (H) (4)
- Left hopturn (H) (4)
- Right lead repeater knee (A) (8)
- Turn and face (A)-basic left (4)
- Alternating corner kicks x2 (facing back wall) (A) (H) (8)
- Reverse turnstep (or regular turnstep) (A) (4)
Tap to repeat right lead (A)
When I teach from the trench I do a vertical combo on the (H) bench only for every other pattern . All the back and forth makes me dizzy otherwise. :)
Here's a couple vertical patterns you could place in between the above combos if you want. Remember for these purposes they're all on a left lead for the (H) bench only.
2.
- Left lead 1/2 L-step (4)
- Left lead across the bench x2 (8)
- Left lead pivot back (reverse hopturn) (4)
- Left lead double knee/walk behind (8)
- Right lead double knee/jack (8)
Repeat right lead
4.
- Left lead over diagonal (4)
- Step touch around front end (4)
- Right lead turnstep (4)
- Left lead scissor over (4)
- Right lead turn/straddle/turn/straddle (8)
- Right lead repeater knees (8)
Repeat right lead
6.
- Left lead reverse split basic (or regular split basic) *step up left, right, turn your body and lunge down left, right, on opposite side of bench, turn and exit back off where you started. (8)
- Left V-step (4)
- Left lead corner knees x2 (8)
- Face front of room and mambo on floor x2 (8)
- Left lead scissor over the bench (4)
Repeat right lead
8.
- Left lead turn/straddle/pivot back (8)
- Left lead double knee/slide behind bench to opposite side (8)
- Right lead double knee/slide
- Left lead curl-straddle-curl
Repeat right lead
You may have to use your own imaginations to tweak some of these if you ONLY step tapless. It's hit and miss with me. I mostly step tapless these days, but don't knock myself out to avoid taps, either. ;)
