Terrific Tapless Step
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 14473)
All combos are self-reversing, 32-count, and tapless. They start and end with being behind the bench, in traditional position. Bench is horizontal. I usually go through it all "back-to-back" and then alternate the patterns for the big finish. (Based on a 60 minute class with warm up, abs, and cool down.)
Combo #1
- Double knee around the end of the bench, straddle down, up up 1 side lunge--exit home (12 count)
- Corner glute raise (4 count)
- *L-step around the world (or two regular L-steps) (16 count)
*L-step around the world: knee off the end, turn in to the bench, knee bench--now you are facing the back, go to the other end, and knee on the bench, turn in to the bench, and knee lift home. Now you are facing front again.
Combo #2
- V lunge--up up in a V-step position, two lunges back, exit home (8 count)
- Hop turn to a straddle--from the facing front position (4 count)
- *Jump up and exit home (4 count)
- Rocking horse (8 count)
- Up up two jacks on top of the bench, exit (8 count)
*Jump up: you have some options with this move. If people do not want to jump, they can just tap up, and exit--changing sides (down down). Intermediate level is jumping up and giving two small jumps on top of the bench, exiting and changing sides. Advanced level is jumping up and doing a knee lift on top of the bench and then exiting, changing sides.
Combo #3
- *Rock across the top (8 count)
- Knee straddle, knee quarter turn, face the back (8 count) You are now facing the back and on the side end of the bench
- 180 Across the top--Just an across the top where you change to face the front. You are now facing front. (4 count)
- Side extension home--returning to the back of the bench (4 count)
- Repeater knee front--you can add a jack in the middle of this repeater--so it's knee up, jack on top, knee exit to a repeater count (8 count)
Combo #4
- L-step with a heel dig--up up to the top of the bench (6 count)
- Two lunges from the top (4 count)
- Exit to the side into a squat, box chasse (6 count)
- Up up alternating side lunges, exit--now facing the back (8 count)
- Mambo cha cha on the floor (4 count)
- 180 Over the top--returning home, just an over the top, change sides (4 count)
Combo #5
- *Knee off the end (like half an L-step) walk to a side leg extension (other leg) walk walk back toward the bench (8 count)
- Across the top to a double knee exit back (8 count)
- Revolving door--two 180 over the tops
- Charleston kick with a lunge over the bench.
*I break this down by doing corner corner knee and a side leg. Then a knee on the bench, walk back to a side leg. Finally, you can then take it to the side of the bench.
It looks a little tricky, but it's lots of fun. All my classes love the layers; I hope you have fun with it too.
The total count is 16.
- L-step with a heel dig (counts 1-4)
- Up up--still facing front (counts 5 and 6)
- Two alternating lunges from the top (counts 7, 8 and 9,10)
- Exit other side of the bench into a squat (counts 11, 12)
- Box chasse on the floor (counts 13-16)
