Hi all
I post a lot of advanced combos, but I also teach an intermediate class, so I thought I'd share some of that as well.
Bench: horizontal
Level: intermediate
Type: tap free,
Other: crossphrasing where indicated
64 count self-reversing combos, total 128. Assumes a right lead.
Combo I
- Rocking horse in left corner (8)
- 2 x Single knees in center of bench, right, left (8)
- 2 Chugs with left foot, cross over (8)**
- 2 Jumping jacks on floor on other side of bench (4)
- 1 Single knee left (4)
- Around the world curls, staring in right corner (16)
- Repeater hip right (8)
- Repeater hip left (8)
Total 64 counts
** Chugs are same as stomps. So stomp the bench twice, then push off and cross over
Combo II
- V-step 3 sides (12) *
- 4 Hops on floor to back to front of room and step (4)
- Skate the bench left, right, left (8)**
- Revolving door left lead (8)***
- Repeater knee in right corner (8)
- L-step off left side (8)
- Turnstep, mambo right foot on floor or bench (8)
- Turnstep, mambo left foot on floor or bench (8)
Total 64 counts
* V-step 3 sides. V-step right on bench (4), turn left and V-step right on floor (4), turn left again (face back wall) V-step right on floor (4). Then do 4 hops to bring you back to face front.
** Skate the bench, 3 alternating ham curls up on top of the bench.
*** Revolving door. Step up right (1), left (1) as you step down on other side of bench right (1) and left (1), turn your body so that your right foot is beside the bench, not your left, repeat using right foot total 8 counts. Known as a tap free over the top.
Combo III (mild crossphrasing)
- 3 Back lunges, right, left, right (10)
- Basic left (4)
- 1 Jumping jack on floor (2)
- V-mambo off left end (4)*
- Knee home (4)
- V-mambo off right end (4)
- Knee home (4)
- Repeater curl 2 only in left corner (6)
- Walk back behind step (4)
- L-step off right side on other side of bench (8)
- L-step off left side still on other side of bench (8)
- Over the top (4)
- 1 Jack on floor (2)
Total 64 counts
* V-mambo off small end of bench. Step right foot at left corner (1) left foot to side of bench on floor (1), right foot crosses behind left on floor (1), while left foot lifts slightly off floor (1)
Combo IV
- Kick the corners, left and right (8)
- Pivot (4)
- 2 Jumping jacks on floor (4)
- Turnstep, straddle, cross the mambo (8)**
- Repeater curls in each corner left and right (16)
- 2 Charleston kicks in left corner (8)
- 2 Alternating lunges, left and right, straddle the bench (8)
- 2 Single knees one right, one left (8)
Total 64 counts
** Turnstep, straddle cross mambo. Do a turn straddle as usual (4) from straddle position, right foot crosses over the bench, to mambo on floor beside the left foot.
