Cast Your Ballot on Election Day!
This is an

For election day my ladies asked if we could spend the hour floating while holding mini flags! -gasp- I don't think so.
Here's my election day plan: This is very easily modified. Add your own moves to emphasize these interesting voting facts.
Voting Day Exercises
- Presidential Qualities - "You get to vote! Should we do sets of 35 today or sets of 14?" President must be 35 year old, natural-born citizen and live in US 14 years
- 1776 - Property owners could vote. Travel by horse (rocking horse) to mark out your territory.
- 1870 - All colors could vote- assign tasks by noodle color/ suit color then say, "1870!" and everyone switches to High Kick dancing (for joy)
- 1920 - Women can vote - Start by jogging with "stirring cauldron" motion (all women were good for) and change to Long Legged Leaps (or traveling skis) "You've come a long way, Baby!"
- 1964 - Poll tax - use noodles or bar bells to do 'pushes' to the front. "Shove away those taxes! Now let's put those taxes behind us!" And repeat with pushes to the back.
- 1971 - Voting age is 18 = Eighteen jumping jacks, eighteen sets of calisthenics (to honor the draftees who helped change the voting age)
- Why November? Crop picking - Wide football jog, with hands under water plucking up crops (open-handed juggling)
- 2nd Week of November - 1st week used to close out receipts. "Pay the bills" - butt kicks for spending so much
- Tuesday, not Monday, so travelers could leave after Church on Sunday and still get to vote - Do guitar kicks travelling with scooping arms acting as "angel wings" (any travelling with scoops will work)
- Donkeys - Kicks to the back
- Elephants - "trunk swings" with barbells side to side (optional - add opposite pendulum kick)
- Green Party - Clean up the air - everyone BREATHE!!!!
- Whigs - neck stretches for those 'wigs' (necks) during cool down
Add some "Right wing" and "Left wing" moves!
A little note: I'm not allowing any political talk during class. "Save it for the hot tub!" I say. We're just going to have fun and remind everyone to vote!
