Maggie's Fifth
This is a
Warmup pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 15090)
Hi..Here's an easy warmup pattern. This pattern self-reverses after 64 counts.
Pattern One
- Single step touch 2x right and left (4)
- Two knee repeater (4) Step right with left knee coming up (bring the knee from the side across the body) (when I teach this I usually do 4 to 8 single step touches and a 4 knee repeater first until they get used to it:)
- Grapevine 2x left and right (8)
- Alternating double hamcurl 2x step left (8)
- Single alternating hamcurl 4x step left (8)
Pattern Two
- Double step touch with a knee at the end 2x step left first (arms reach forward and back) (8)
- Step heel in front 4x step left with right heel in front, arms cross at wrists in front (8)
- Step touch behind 4x leaning forward and low with chest lifted-step with left, arms cross still in front but lift out to the side palms facing the back of the room. (8)
- Squat out to the side and then lift the left leg up into a knee. Do that 2x stepping left (same side both times) I say "squat and knee" (8) Hold the second knee up and wait for the beat to go back to the top for the step touches.
Repeat on the left side.
I haven't added anything for a long time and thought it was time. Will put a step pattern on soon. email me with questions or comments. Hope this one will help when you need an uncomplicated, low impact warm up for step, hi-lo, etc.
