Sue's Step #8

This is a Step pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 15363)

Hi folks -

Here are two 64 count blocks, all tapless. The first changes lead, the second doesn't, so if you put them all together, the whole thing changes lead.

The * moves have optional layers listed at the end. A lot of the moves have turns and hops in them, so it's important to remind folks to unweight. Breakdowns of "named" moves are at the end too.

Comments/feedback and questions all welcome...just please put "turnstep" somewhere in the subject line...

- Sue

First Block (64 counts - changes lead)

Second Block (32 counts - does not change lead)

Alternate Layers:

* Basic left and basic right can be 360 degree turns in place

** "2 x V-step right" - can do "V-jacks" instead: right foot up on bench wide count 1, left foot up on bench wide count 2, jacks in-out-in counts. 3-5, right knee up count 6, down-down right, left counts 7-8

*** Can use "turn and walk back" left, "half-hop turn and walk back" right (now facing back of room), "turn and walk back" right (still facing back of room), "half-hop turn and walk back" left (now facing front of room again) in place of the 4 x "turn and walk back" - this is MUCH more directionally challenging, so I'd practice it a lot with the simpler version before tackling the more complex version

Named Steps:

Knee right + turnback knee (8 counts, does not change lead): knee right on bench (4 counts) + knee left on ground facing back left corner of room, as if there were a bench there (note: counts 7,8 return back to "home" behind bench)

Shuffle into a box right (6 counts, start from behind bench facing west wall, changes lead): shuffle along bench right (facing west wall) 1-and-2, box step (counts. 3-6) on ground left (start facing wall and then come back to "home" position behind bench facing front)

Off-the-ends left: (6 counts, starts and ends on top of bench in middle and facing front, remains facing front all 6 counts, does not change lead) left foot steps off left end of bench, right foot on bench in middle, left foot next to right on bench, right foot steps off right end of bench, left foot on bench in middle, right foot next to left on bench

"Overturn double lunge" right (8 counts, does not change lead): reverse up-up right, left so you are facing the back of the room + lunge back right, left + step down-down right, left to the north of the bench still facing the back of the room

Crossover right (4 counts, some folks call this a weave - like an over-the-top, but without the tap, faces left wall the whole time, changes lead): right foot on bench, left leg swings up behind & over, left foot down on other side of bench, right foot down outside left foot

"Turn and walk back" left (8 count move, changes lead, starts and ends behind bench): step up up left, right as if you were starting a normal turnstep (counts 1-2), facing front left corner step down and walk backwards on ground three steps left, right, left (counts 3-5), raise right knee (count 6), walk back to bench still facing front left corner right, left (counts 7-8)

"Half-hop turn and walk back" right (8 count move, does not change lead, ends on other side of bench than where you started): starting from behind bench facing front step/hop up right into a half-hop turn (count 1) with left knee up (count 2), facing back right/east corner of room step down and walk backwards on ground three steps left, right, left (counts 3-5), raise right knee (count 6), walk back to bench still facing back right/east corner right, left (counts 7-8)

Indecision lunge left (8 count move, does not change lead, starting from behind bench, facing east wall) up-up left, right facing east wall, 2 x lunge to side left, right, down-down left, right exiting to the north and turning to face the west wall

Repeater crossover left (8 counts, some turning, need to unweight foot on bench, ends on opposite side of bench from where it starts, stay facing the same wall the whole time, changes lead): left foot on bench, right knee up, right foot taps down on opposite side of bench (slight turn of body clockwise), right knee up, right foot taps down where it started (slight turn of body counterclockwise), right knee up, right foot down on ground on other side of bench where it tapped on count 3 (slight turn of body clockwise), left foot down on ground next to (outside) right foot

Ginger Rogers repeater right (8 counts, changes lead, sort of a half-tempo repeater, but uses some balance): (counts 1/2 together) right foot on bench with a little hop and left foot swings/kicks forward, (counts 3/4 together) left foot swings/kicks back and right foot hops on bench, (counts 5/6 together) left foot kicks/swings forward and right foot hops on bench, (counts 7-8) down down left, right back to "home" position

"Double lunge" left (8 counts, does not change lead, I think this is what some folks call a split basic???): up-up left, right, lunge back left, lunge back right, down-down left, right
