Susan's Front and Back #1
This is a
Double Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 14833)
Thanks, Courtney C., for the awesome double step patterns! I thought I could contribute a few in return.
I use (f) for the front bench and (b) for the back one. This is a relatively easy combo for intermediate steppers. All 32-count, self-reversing. The whole thing works together and takes about an hour to teach. Right leg leads on front bench; then reverse everything starting on back bench with left leg leading.
Combo 1:
- L-step (f) (8)
- Up and lunge (f) (8)
- Travel kick (kick on (f), then on (b)) (8)
- 2 Basic left (b) (8) You should be facing the back of the room.
Combo 2:
- V-step front and back (8) (or just two on the front bench)
- 2 Knees center (f) (8)
- Revolve (f) (4) (like an over the top with a turn to the back. You should end up with the FRONT BENCH to your right)
- Indecision (8) (going over front bench towards back bench)
- Charleston (4) (b)
Combo 3:
- Basic (f) (4)
- Inside loop (turnstep on front, then back bench) (8)
- Squat on (f) (4)
- Over the top (f) (4)
- Big jog (run around left to back of back bench) (4)
- Ham straddle (b) (4) (this takes you over the back bench so you can begin again with a left basic facing the back of the room)
Combo 4:
- Turn straddle (f) (4)
- Basic (f) (4) (on short end of bench)
- X-step (f) (4) (from short end, up and straddle front, up and straddle back)
- 1/4 Hop (f) (4) so you are facing the back of the room
- Basic left (f) (4) still facing the back
- Up and over (f) (4)
- 2 Jacks (4) (between benches, facing your back bench)
Combo 5:
- Knee straddle turn (f) (8) (ending with front bench to your right)
- Step kick walk walk mambo (f) (8) (basically, this is a charleston, walk away, mambo, cha cha cha back to your bench)
- Figure 8 with a straddle (8) (front to back:Hop turn on front bench, hop turn on back bench ending in a straddle)
- Repeater knee (b) (8) (right foot is on the back bench. When you exit, you have to turn to the other side to begin the knee straddle turn on the back bench)
This is a bit tricky to explain, but the moves aren't all that difficult. Please email me with questions!
