Xtreme Cross-Phrasing - Part 2

This is a Step pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 14891)

Because of the size of this pattern, I am submitting it in two parts, with two combos in each. In reading Part 2, you may need to refer to Part 1 for the explanation of some moves.

Parts 1 and 2 together contain four 32-count, tapless, self-reversing combos which are fully cross-phrased -- you are off the phrase for all moves after the first, and do not resolve the cross-phrasing until count 32.

Combo III

This combo uses an 11-count, a 9-count, a 7-count, and a 5-count move for a 32-count combo. When done in this order, the routine is fully cross-phrased. However, you can change it to 11, 5, 9, 7 order to resolve the cross-phrasing for each 16-count phrase.

(Repeat left lead)

Combo IV

The move counts for this combo are 3, 6, 6, 8, 4, 5. You can easily transform this to a non-cross-phrased combo by changing the 3-count and 5-count moves to 4-count lead changing moves, e.g., knee up.

For another example of heavy cross-phrasing, see my pattern #12747, "Count Up, Count Down". It is a 64-count cross-phrased combo.

Move explanations: explanations assume right lead from home position (south), even though they may first be encountered with left lead and/or on the front (north) side, unless otherwise stated.

Stomp, straddle, up, side-to-side lunge:
1 - right foot stomp (chug) the bench; left foot raises a little (facing left/west)
2 - left foot to the floor in place

4 - left foot to the bench
5 - right foot to the bench
6 - left foot lunge at home
7 - left foot returns to the bench
8 - right foot lunge on front/north side
9 - right foot returns to the bench
10 - left foot to the floor at home
11 - right foot to the floor at home, turning to face the bench

9-count L-mambo:
This is like a regular L-step, but with a mambo added
1 - right foot to left/west end of the step, facing forward/north

4 - right foot crosses in front of left leg in a mambo; left foot raises a little
5 - left foot back to the floor in place
6 - right foot back to the bench

8 - left foot to the floor at home

Knee, quick lunge, knee:
1 - right foot to the west corner
2 - left knee lift
3 - left foot back to the floor
4 - hop to right foot on the floor on north/front side, left foot on the bench
5 - right knee lift
6 - right foot to the floor on north/front side
7 - left foot to floor on north/front side, turning to face bench

3-count mambo:
1 - right foot to the west corner, left foot lifts a little
2 - left foot back to the floor in place
3 - right foot to the floor, turning to face the bench

Mambo, chasse', spin:
1 - right foot to the west corner, left foot lifts a little
2 - left foot to the floor, beginning to turn toward the back
3 & 4 - chasse' (triple step) diagonally back (southeast)
5, 6 - clockwise 360 degree turn (calypso); alternative - walk 2
The return to the bench is the same, except the mambo is on the floor, and since it is on left lead, the spin is counter-clockwise..

Knee, lunge, lunge, knee:
1 - right foot to the west corner
2 - left knee lift
3 - left foot lunge back to the floor on home/south side
4 - left foot to the bench

6 - right knee lifts
7 - right foot exits on front/north side
8 - left foot exits on front/north side, turning to face the bench

5-count mambo rock:
1 - right foot to the left corner
2 - left foot to the bench behind right foot in a backwards mambo, right foot raises a little
