Sonia's Round and Round Advanced Combos
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 15215)
Horizontal step, 32 count, self-reversing, tapless combos.
Combo 1
- Right, Merry Go Round (12)*1
- Right, Jazzy Joe (8)*2
- Left, Double Walkabout (9)*3
- Right, Single stomp (3)
Repeat left
Combo 2
- Right, 1/2 L-step turning to face the back (4)
- Left, 1/2 Revolving door across (long way) (4)
- Left, Hamcurl, grapevine away from the step with no tap, 1 jack, grapevine back to the step with no tap, power squat to step (16)
Note: this move is done off the end of the step.
- Left, 1/2 L-step to home side (4)
- Right, 1 Traveling abductor (4)
Repeat left
Combo 3
- Right, Rock Across (8)*4
- Right, Hop twist across..hop up with feet together and slightly bent knees turned right, hop forward knees left, hop forward knees right, exit right/left (8) see low impact option after footwork below
- Right, Step right, knee left, left to floor, right lunges over the step and taps floor on front side, right to step, side kick left, exit left/right (8)
- Left, 2x Scissor over (8)
Repeat left
Combo 4
- Right, 2 Knee lifts halfway around the world (8)
- Right, Rocking horse into a straddle (8)
- Left, Turning V-steps (16)*5
Repeat left
Combo 5
- Right, Shuffle and straddle down left/right (4)
- Left, Crossover cha cha....left crosses over right on floor, cha cha cha with a turn so right side is to step (4)
- Right, Repeat the first 8 counts (8)
- Right, Swinging L-step (8)*6
- Left, 1 Split basic (8)

*1 Merry Go Round
Merry-Go-Round: For this one I have to use the step as a fixed map in order to describe it:
- 1,2) step up wide right/left
- 3) cross the right foot behind the left stepping down off the SW corner, beginning to turn forward
- 4) step the left next to the right finishing the turn forward to face the west wall
- 5) right foot steps wide on the floor to the NW corner
- 6) left foot steps to right foot - the left shoulder turns back so you finish facing the back of the room
- (7,8) step up wide right/left
- 9) cross the right foot behind the left and stepping down off the NE corner, beginning to turn forward
- (10) step the left next to the right finishing the turn forward to face the east wall
- 11) right foot steps wide on the floor to the SE corner
- 12) left steps next to right turning to face the front...you should be back to where you started.
*2 Jazzy Joe:
- 1,2) walk diagonally on the step right/left
- 3,4) walk diagonally on the floor right/left
- 5,6) cross the right foot over the left foot and step the left foot out beginning to turn in toward the step
- 7,8) cha cha cha home
*3 Double Walkabout:
- 1) step the left foot to the right (SE) corner, right pulls up
- 2) walk the right foot forward on the floor, left pulls up
- 3) step the left foot to the right (SE) corner, right pulls up
- 4) walk the right foot back on the floor, left pulls up
- 5) step the left foot to the right (SE) corner, right pulls up
- 6) walk the right foot forward on the floor, left pulls up
- 7) step the left foot to the right (SE) corner, right pulls up
- 8) step down at home right
- 9) step down at home left
On counts 8/9 you are heading towards the left corner for the single stomp.
*4 Rock Across...this is done the long way on the step:
- 1,2) step up right and give a little hop on the right, left up in a knee lift
- 3,4) rock forward onto the left foot, then rock back onto the right foot
- 5,6) left hop turn off the end
- 7,8) step down right and left facing the end
*5 Turning V-steps:
- 1,2) from the straddle position facing east step up left, step the right foot forward wide on the floor
- 3,4) turning to face the step, step back left on the floor, step back right on the floor
- 5,6) on the step, step up wide left/right
- 7,8) straddle down left/right to face west
- 9-16) repeat the above sequence..this will return you to a straddle position facing east ready to repeat the combo.
*6 Swinging L-step:
- 1,2) step up right at the left end, kick forward left
- 3,4,5,6) tap back left, tap forward left, tap back left, kick left forward
- 7,8) exit home left/right
Note: the kicks are done with a swing from the hip; the taps are big movements. Swing the arms forward and back (scissor fashion).
Low impact option for Hop Twist Across:
- 1,2) step up right and left
- 3,4) step forward on top right, touch in left
- 5,6) step forward on top left, touch in right
- 7,8) exit right/left turning to prepare for repeater
