Saturday Morning Football
This is an
Aquatic pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 15518)
My class was getting very bored with my cardio interval routines so I had to mix it up a bit! This routine was probably more fun for me than them! During the whole class I use visualization exercises instructing the class to imagine the football field, and all related equipment (i.e. rope agility exercises, tackling bags, footballs, etc.)
Routine:
- Warm up with a high knee jog to warm up
- Transition to side shuffles in the shallow back and forth to opposite sides of the pool.
- Kareoke steps traveling from one end to the other (still in shallow end) imagining traveling down the field
- Instruct class to transition to high knee jogs, take it to a wide jog and proceed to travel from end to end pretending to be jogging over the ropes
- Taking a hut stance (semi-squat) position, run the feet fast on the ground double time, to work the quads, gluts, etc.
- Take it to jumping jacks slow at first then double time adding a hop in the middle
- Power hops front and back starting slow then double-time (legs stay glued together, light on toes)
- Power hops left and right slow and double time
- Repeat both power hops but add high knees pretending to be jumping over bags
- Jumping lunges alternating sides (jump up then assume lunge position)
- Field goal kicks (somewhat like soccer kicks)
- Jump straight out of water catching a pass, reaching arms up (similar to fish out of water)
Finish with push-ups on the wall, and abs holding on to the edge of the pool and drawing knees into the chest both ways (facing down and up). Stretch out and hit the showers!
Go Team!
