Traveling Hi-Low Warm-Up Combo
These combos follow a progression of advancing moves, so that participants of all levels can follow. It's best done in a room with a lot of space to move.
A:
- 4 Step-touches, arms circling at the waist
- 4 Marches wide
- (4 counts) Wide squat with hop-together
B:
- 4 Hamstring curls, arms "bow & arrow-style pull"
- 4 Knee lifts, both arms pull-down
- Practice A + B, and then add C-
C:
- 2 Grapevines (1 right, 1 left)
- 4 1/2-Tempo wide marches
- Repeat (C), to keep all the counts even
- Practice A + B + C, and then add travel (option) to A...
A with Travel option:
- 4 Step-touches, traveling forward
- 4 Marches wide
- (4 counts) Wide squat with turning hop-together (i.e., turn and face right as you hop together)
- + B, as above, + C, as above, and then repeat the combo adding travel option to B-
B with Travel option:
- 4 Hamstring curls, traveling forward
- 4 Knee lifts, traveling back
- + C, as above, and then repeat the combo adding travel option to C-
C with Travel option:
- 2 Grapevines at an angle (1 grapevine to the right-angle, 1 grapevine left-angle)
- 4 Slow wide marches back (to start)
The finished product looks like this:
A with Travel + B with Travel + C with Travel
-and that's just for a warm-up!
