PStep's Inspiration from Jacque

This is a Step pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 16254)

PStep inspired this combo when she posted the first 8 counts to the Moves board. Thanks PStep!

32 counts, reverses, tapfree, horizontal board. Breakdown follows.

*Any variation on a 2-knee repeater will do. You could also do one of each!

Highland fling = Step-kick, bend knee in front across the support leg, extend into another kick, exit down, down.

Elvis = Stomp off end left, right, twist left knee & hip in toward center of body, stomp right on board, walk home right, left.

BREAKDOWN:

Base = Over-the-top-hamcurl 4x's (16) + 2 alternating 2-knee repeaters + 1 knee (16). Repeat other lead.

Layer 1 = Demo the "chasse' over, rock-back" as an optional replacement for "over-the-top-hamcurl". So we have: chasse' over, rock-back 4x's (16) + 2 alternating 2-knee repeaters + 1 knee (16). Repeat other lead.

Layer 2 = Replace the middle 2 chasse's over, rock backs with 4 hamcurls on the floor on the N side. Do these facing somewhat to the front of the room so they start getting used to beginning their turn. Return to a side approach on the final curl. So we have: chasse' over, rock-back (4) + 4 hamcurls on floor (8) + chasse' over, rock-back (4) + 2 alternating 2-knee repeaters + 1 knee (16). Repeat other lead.

Layer 3 = Demo turning around the end on the first 2 hamcurls AND come back to them on the second 2. Now we have: chasse' over, rock-back (4) + 2 hamcurls on floor turn around the end (4) + 2 hamcurls on floor return around the end to where you were (4) + chasse' over, rock-back (4) + 2 alternating 2-knee repeaters + 1 knee (16). Repeat other lead.

Layer 4 = Layer the 2 knee repeaters here because you're still facing front with them. This gives us: chasse' over, rock-back (4) + 2 hamcurls on floor turn around the end (4) + 2 hamcurls on floor return around the end to where you were (4) + chasse' over, rock-back (4) + 2 alternating highland flings (or other variation) + 1 knee (16). Repeat other lead.

Layer 5 = Introduce the final part of the pattern: 2 alternating knees on top + 6 count mambo + 1 basic to fill in the phrase.

Base for this is: 4 basics (16). Demo the 2 knees on top & 6 count mambo in place of the first 3 basics. Repeat as needed. Reverse the lead by doing your pattern so far, and intro on the other lead.

ADD to what you have so far to make a 64 count, reversing combo:

Chasse over, rock back (4) + curl around the end and back (8) + chasse over, rock back (4) + 2 highland flings (or Elvises) (12) + 1 knee (4) = (32) + 2 alternating knees on top, exit (6) + 6 count mambo (6) + 1 basic (reverse basic option) (4) + 4 alternating kicks (16) = (32)

Layer 6 = Reduce the first part of the pattern which changes the orientation of the remainder & add some filler for cueing & brain-processing time. Still 64 counts at this point. We have:

Chasse over, rock back (4) + curl around the end (4) + hold on the end with 3 basics (12) + 2 highland flings (or Elvises) (12) = (32) + 2 basics on the end (8) + 2 knees on top TRAVEL & STRADDLE DOWN (6) + 6 count mambo (6) + 1 basic (or reverse basic) (4) + 2 alternating kicks (8) = (32)

Layer 7 = Cut all the basics (20), so when you finish your 6 count mambo you've got your final combo. I like to follow with a block of 32 which is the base for my next combo, and also serves as brain-processing filler: 1 basic (or reverse basic) + 3 alternating kicks (16) + do again on other lead (16).

Repeat final combo on other lead + the filler.

Move on to next combo using the base you've already been doing.
