Kickboxing Partner Combo
This is a
BoxAerobics pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 15703)
Split class into 2 lines - facing front, side by side, with enough space in between so that there are no collisions or contact, but they can still use their partner as a target.
Final routine looks like this (breakdown to teach is below)
Group 1
- Jab hop right - 4 times (8)
- Step left 4 times (8)
- 4 Right blocks (8)
- 4 Left crosses (8)
- Step right, right side kick (2 X's) (8)
- 4 Squats/ducks moving left (8)
- Shuffle right, shuffle left (8)
- 4 Jacks, turn to the back (8)
Group 2
- Step right 4 times (8)
- Jab hop left - 4 times (8)
- 4 Right crosses (8)
- 4 Left blocks (8)
- 4 Squats/ducks moving right (8)
- Step left, left side kick (8)
- Shuffle right, Shuffle left (8)
- 4 Jacks, turn to the back (8)
Facing the back - repeat from the top, each group will be on the opposite lead.
I build this up slowly - repeating each move several times before moving on.
- Start both groups out by stepping right 4 times, left 4 times (16)
- Group 2 stays with the step touch for a couple repetitions while you get Group 1 going on the jab/hop.
- Group 1 adds the jab/hop right, step touch back.
- Group 2 step touch right, add jab/hop left.
Repeat this back and forth a few times.
Add Arms.
Group 1 does right blocks, Group 2 does left crosses, then switch.
I usually do a couple sets, then cut it down to 4 each. Once they have the arms, I put it together with the jab/hop, step touches.
Practice from the top a couple times.
- For the next block - each group starts by squatting right/left 4 times (16)
- Group 2 keeps the squats going while Group 1 adds the step right, right side kick (twice).
- Then have Group 2 add the step left, left side kicks on Group 1's return with the squats.
Add the shuffles right/left, 4 jacks - repeat other side. I break it down some, but not quite as much on the second side.
