This class is designed so that you are facing front, and your partner is facing the back. The last combo divides the class into Groups. I did a 'sneak preview' in the warm up. You (and all in your position) are group 1. Your partner (and all in that position) are group 2. Steps are called "YOURS" and "THEIRS".
Combo during warm up for Groups:
- Group 1: L-step, turn between, mambo on floor, stay on floor and continue mambos until Gr2 is out of the way. (turn between is just a turnstep done on both the steps. Left on Yours, R on Theirs, and exit left, right; aka swoop. Mambos are in front of Theirs.
- Group 2: Taps with right lead until group 1 is on the mambos, then cue them to do same L-step, turnstep between, mambo
- All: cue all to tap, but will now be on a left lead on Theirs.
- Cue group 1 to do the combo again with the left lead, hold the mambos while you cue Gr2, then all tap again. That is enough of a 'sneak preview' to give them an idea. I did this several times because they are going to need this committed to memory. You'll see why later. It's easy.
Combo 1:
- 7 Count turnstep, switch to Theirs, 7 count turnstep, switch to Yours, step up right, left (16 count) (7 count= up right, left like a turnstep 1-2, right to floor, left lifts slightly, left returns to step 3-4, right up 5, exit left, right while switching to Theirs 6-7, do the same on Thiers and switch back to Yours 8-14, up right, left on Yours facing left 15-16.)
- Lunge side to side x 4 right, left, right, left and hold (8 count) (On fourth lunge, hold - this will be count 7-8. Right will still be on step, and left will be on floor in lunge position. I like to give it a little bounce with the music.)
- Knee, mambo back, kick and switch (8 count) (left knee up, down and mambo back with right 1-4, step kick and switch to Theirs.)
Repeat left lead on Theirs, totals 32 counts
Combo 2:
- Diagonal, walk or step touch around small end (8 count)
- Hop turn, switch, hop turn (8 count) (hop turn diagonally over Yours exit down right, left and switch to Theirs 1-4, hop turn over Theirs exit down left, right 5-8. End up at far right corner of Theirs facing right wall.
- Stomp, step forward, Stomp, step over, Stomp, switch, Double Stomp, switch back (16 count) (First I had them do 3 stomps then mambo back. Then added Stomp, step forward off small end 1-4, stomp, step over 5-8, stomp and switch to Yours right, left 9-11, Double Stomp on Yours with right, switch back 12-16)
Repeat left lead on Theirs, totals 32 counts
Combo 3:
- 5 Count over, over, shuffle switch, shuffle straddle (14 count) (Over top, mambo back 1-5, over left, right left hits floor 6-8, shuffle to Theirs 9-10, shuffle on Theirs with left on step right on floor and straddle right, left 11-14) up right, left (2 counts) You can hop up for intensity.
- Repeater right, switch to Yours, repeater left, switch back (16 count) (You start the first repeater from the top)
Repeat left lead on Theirs, totals 32 counts
Combo 4: The Groups
- Group 1: L-step, turn between, mambo on the floor, tap x 2
- Group 2: Tap x 2, L-step, turn between, mambo on the floor (As you are ending the repeater knee from combo 3, cue: group 2 stay, group 1 take off. Then when you are completing your L-step, cue group 2 to take off.) (24 counts)
- ALL: Turn over Theirs and Yours. (8 count) (This in my terms is an over the top exit down down. I've also seen it called a revolving door but I'm not sure what you'd call that if you are switching steps. My class knows it as a "turn over switch". As you are finishing your turnovers, cue group 2 to stay again and group 1 to L-step.)
Repeats left lead on Theirs, totals 32 counts
It's a tough one to write, but not that hard to do. Please email with any questions. Candy
