Dancing Seniors
This is an
Aquatic pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 15963)
I teach aqua for seniors. This routine was inspired by the show "So You Think You Can Dance" which I LOVE! Each dance style has 3 moves and we repeat those 3 moves 2x.
Country Dancing:
- Heel digs and push arms down
- Grapevine side to side
- Wide march, arms up, elbows to the kness (I call it cowboy march)
Latin:
- Hip circles and circle arms in the water
- Step touch 4 times to one side and the other, hands in fist circle arm around, elbows bent (think train arms)- I tell them to get their hips into it
- Mambos OR step forward and back and swing the arms forward and back
Swing:
- March in a circle, elbows in the sides and circle arms around (you can turn the march into a strut)
- 1 Leg kicks front and side- punching arms to the front-switch legs
- Wide kicks or Russian kicks and push arms down
Cheerleader:
- March, knees up and punch arms up into the air
- Kick front and reach opposite arm to let
- Squat-arms go out to the side and then lift to the front.
I teach out of the water so I danced it up for my seniors and I think they enjoyed it. Have fun!
