Working the ABs with water weights

This is an Aquatic pattern from (pattern 15972)

I use this at the end of my class to work the abs. Usually the last 15 minutes.

Your students will use a noodle and a pair of water weights (styrofoam weights).

Your students will float on the noodles placing under each arm. Hold on to the water weights. Legs will be straight and arms will be holding weight at the side of the knees.

Cue your students to lift the heels out of the water while they push down on the weights. I also tell my students to lower their toes under the water than lift the heels out. Arms are going up and down as well at the knees.

Some variations are crossing the ankles while lifting and stacking the toes while lifting. Always cue toes under the water and lift the heels out of the water.

Other variations include clapping the weights under one knee and clapping under both knees.
