Hey! Here are some fun games I play with my boot camp class to mix it up a bit!
Place 20 cones spread out around your aerobics area. Have half of the cones down (on their sides) and half of the cones standing up. Break the class into two teams. Team #1 has to put all of the cones in the upright position, and Team #2 has to put all of the cones in the down position. Have the game start when you begin the music. (Remind them to watch out for other people--it can get crazy!) When the music stops the game is over. I normally play a few rounds--the first round is 1:30, round 2 is 1:00 and round 3 is :30 seconds. The winning team is the one that has the most cones in their direction when the music stops! (You will quickly find it is much easier to be on the team knocking the cones down. You can switch the directions the teams have to put the cones in order to make it more fair).
Find a childrens book that has a repetitive phrase. My favorite is "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day." Have your class jog around the room in a circle as you read the book to them. (You can vary the locomotor skills at any time--skipping, galloping, grapevies, etc.) When you get to your repetitive phrase, the class stops running and does a series of exercises to each word. For example, I use:
I make them count them out every time they do them. By the end of the story, they are exhausted. And what entertainment!
Ok, more to come! Email with questions!
