Step it up with Laura
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 16052)
- Basic right x4
- Alternate right and left knee lifts X4
- Step right and lift left knee up to the left corner x1 and step down and touch and then quickly turn toward the back with a cha cha cha and quickly turn toward the front with a cha cha cha. The count is 8. I tell my students: Step up x1 and down touch and turn back cha cha cha and turn side cha cha cha. You are now facing the front and side of the bench.
- Do 2 Broadway kicks. A Broadway kick is a step right (on side of bench) and kick left and back back back-kick and step forward (8 counts for each Broadway kick)* I can't recall the name, but this move came from turnstep a few years back and my student LOVE this little combo THANKS!
- You are still on the side of the bench. Stompx2 and hop it over.
- Stomp x2 and hop it back.
- Stomp x2 and hop back over, step right lift left and back home.
- Left basicx2 and right into raise the roof left lead x3 and after the third raise the roof step right and turning your foot inward hop turn over (you are now facing forward on the front side of the bench). Grapevine right (on the floor) and diagonal grapevine left and back home.
- You are now facing the left side where you Knee lift with the right foot stepping up on the bench and lifting the left knee quickly x2 and back around backwards to the other side of the bench. You do the same thing on the opposite side x2knees and back around backwards to the other side where you again do the same thing and back around backwards to the opposite side of the bench where you now do only 1 knee and take it over the top of the bench.
- Arabesque side to side.
- Facing center step right and lift left leg out (arms are up and out in a backward L).
- Facing center step left and lift right leg out (arms are up and out in a typical L formation).
- Still facing center step right and place left foot on the side of the right knee while arms run from the head and down the body and out.
- Still facing center step left and place right foot on the side of the left knee while the arms run from the head and down the body and out.
- Up and split basic x4.
- Pivot front and back and squat it out and in to the side.
Repeat all on the left side.
Certainly this combination is understandable to me, but it can be a bit confusing without the visual. Please feel free to email with any questions you may have. Many thanks to all of the instructors who have contributed to turnstep and have made all of our classes just that much better. Have a great class and happy stepping!!!
