Yoga Balance Flow by Heidi

This is a [Other] pattern from (pattern 16057)

Here is a nice flow that involves balance and strength. I usually do this well into the class, long after the sun salutations warmup and some smaller back bends to prepare for Dancer's Pose.

I like to use Josh Grobin's "You Raise Me Up" for this; it goes very well. BTW, I don't believe in using yoga music simply as background music. I think music is powerful and while it shouldn't be distracting, I believe it's best to use it to one's advantage. I always match the song to what we are doing and create my own song lists tailored to my classes. It takes a lot of time, but well worth it, and my participants really notice it! And they love it!

Please let me know if you use this! Very challenging, yet smooth and gentle, just like yoga! And if you download the above mentioned song, you will know exactly when to lift into Dancer's Pose. The music builds strongly and he sings, "You raise me UP [Dancer's Pose] so I can stand on mountains. You raise me UP [Warrior 3] to walk on stormy seas. I am strong [either standing splits or skip that pose and go right into Warrior 1/Exalted Warrior] when I am on Your shoulders. You raise me up [Mountain Pose] to more than I can be."

Because I use the music as a tool and to enhance my class, I will do the standing one-legged squats during the stanzas, not the chorus, to keep with the feel of the song. If it doesn't make sense, listen to the song and I'm sure you'll get it! You'll just FEEL it. :o)

BTW, my real name is Trenna, but I post as Heidi on the TBB.
