Breakdown
- Base = 3 mambos + 3 alternating side-legs corner-corner + 2 basics = (32).
- 1. Cut to: 1 mambo + 1 side-leg + 2 basics (16).
- 2. Change the first basic: 1 mambo + 1 side-leg into a back-mambo + stomp corner + 1 basic.
- 3. Add direction: take the mambo off the end, then swing backwards to home on the side leg. Do the back-mambo + corner stomp + 1 basic.
- 4. Show optional version for the swing home: side leg into a cross over on top, then exit into a slight side approach instead of the swing into a back-mambo. At this point you have: Mambo off the end + swing, cross over & exit (OR swing home, back-mambo) + stomp corner + 1 basic + (16).
- 5. Add some filler which will be the base for Part 2: 2 more basics + 2 alternating knees corner-corner = (16).
- 6. If needed -- Block and teach the basic straddle, walk over the board (jazz square option) .
- 7. Have them stay with the pattern so far while you demo the next layer which changes the stomp + basic into a diagonal chug + a reverse basic on the N side. Come home to them using a basic straddle, walk over the board while they do 2 more basics. You are back together on the 2 alternating knees.
- 8. Once they have mastered everything to this point, layer the 2 alternating knees by taking one to the floor, and adding the hopturn on the floor as an option.
