Stomp-Knee, Tango Over from Jacque
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 16449)
32 counts, reversing, tapfree, horizontal board. Part 1 is cross-phrased. Lots of opportunities for turning! Feel free to email me with questions.
Jacque
Part 1
- Right lead: Stomp SW corner (3)
- Left lead: Step-knee on the floor (or clockwise hopturn) (2)
- Right lead: Walk back to SW corner (2)
- Right lead: Tango over the board (3)*
- Left lead: Stomp corner-corner facing back of room (6)**
* Tango over the board = step or leap over the board with right foot (count 1), step behind with left, step in place with right (counts 2,3).
** OR pivot on the floor in place of the first stomp.
Part 2
- Left lead: Knee-weave over (4)***
- Right Lead: Mambo cha-cha on floor (you are now on the home side of your board) (4)
- Left lead: Shuffle-turn on the floor 4 times completely around the board (8)
*** Very advanced option for your divas: do a 360 degree back hopturn as you are going over the board.
Breakdown
I chose to build both parts as one, beginning with the base for the entire 32 counts:
Base = Stomp corner (3) + knee on other corner of board (4) + stomp corner-corner 3x's (9) = (16) + 2 alternating knees (8) + 2 alternating kicks (8) = (32) total
- 1. Stomp (3) + knee on the floor (4) + keep the rest the same (25) = (32)
- 2. Stomp (3) + demo a hopturn option for the knee (4) + keep the rest the same (25) = (32)
- 3. Demo a floor pivot option for the middle stomp of the 3 corner-corner stomps which come after the floor-knee (or hopturn).
- 4. Replace the 2 alternating knees with 2 alternating knee-weaves over & back.
- 5. Demo the big directional change: "tango over" (3) replaces the first corner stomp after the floor-knee. Then come home to join your class by doing 1 knee weave, 1 regular knee and finish with 2 alternating kicks.
At this point you have:
- Right lead: Stomp SW corner (3)
- Left lead: Step-knee on the floor (or clockwise hopturn) (2)
- Right lead: Walk back to SW corner (2)
- Right lead: Tango over the board (3)*
- Left lead: Stomp corner-corner facing back of room OR pivot & stomp (6)
- Left lead: Knee-weave home (4)
- Right lead: 1 regular knee (4)
- Left lead: 2 alternating kicks (8)
- 6. Next layer in a mambo-cha-cha to replace the regular knee after the knee-weave.
- 7. Last, layer the kicks with options to walk around the board, shuffle around or shuffle halfway then "cut the corner" the rest of the way.
- 8. Very, very last: layer in the 360 degree back-hopturn on the knee-weave if you have super-divas in class!
