New Year's Reverse-Knee & Stomp 3 from Jacque

This is a Step pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 16707)

Welcome to 2008! Here's the first combo I used in today's class. Worked well with a mixed-level group (intermediate/advanced).

32 counts, reversing, tapfree. Horizontal board. The lead change occurs in the final 12 counts.

*Power-L = 2-knee repeater + exit & kick on the floor + rock back (8)

**Reverse-knee, exit home = reverse into a step-knee, then step on top for count 3. Then exit home. You complete 360 degrees as in a reverse-basic, but the knee gives you 3 counts on top instead of 2.

***The base for this is 3 regular stomps with the same foot, then exit (7 counts). Option is to alternate them with quick steps between: stomp (1), quick-quick (2-and), stomp (3), quick-quick (4-and), stomp (5), exit home (6,7)

Teaching progression:

Base Part 1 = 5-knee repeater + 1 basic (16)
1. Change the repeater: 2-knees + exit & kick on the floor + rock-back + knee on board + 1 basic (16)
2. Change the last knee to a "cha-cha-cha" using the board.
3. Expand the base pattern by adding another "cha-cha-cha" at the other corner + 1 basic + 3 alternating knees corner-corner (32).
4. Demo going off the end with the 2-knee repeater/kick/rock-back. At this point I name it "Power-L". Then do the alternating "cha-cha-chas" on the end, & come home with a box step on top in place of the basic. Finish with the 3 alternating knees.
5. Replace the "cha-cha-chas" on the end with the chassés across the top. This is optional - anyone wishing a less intense option can stay with the alternating cha-chas.

At this point, Part 1 looks like this:
Power-L off the end (8) + Chassé over & back (8) + Box-step home (4) + 3 alternating knees (12) = (32)

6. Introduce Base Part 2 = 7-knee repeater (16).
7. Change to: 4-knees + 3 stomps (16).
8. Change to: Mambo + 1 knee + back-mambo + 3 stomps (16).
9. Demo optional alternating syncopated stomps in place of the 3 regular stomps.
10. Demo optional reverse-knee-exit in place of the knee-back-mambo.
11. Combine Parts 1 & 2: the beginning mambo in Part 2 will disappear. Execute the reverse-knee immediately after the box-step.
