Beginning/Intermediate from Jacque
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 16990)
32 counts; tapfree, reverses. Horizontal board.
I consider this a beg/intermed. pattern in terms of complexity - I've had good success with this one in several classes where the skill level was brand new steppers to experienced intermediates. Made sure I didn't rush through the breakdown, plus emphasized power options for those who wanted to work hard. Feel free to email me with questions.

Final:
- 2-Knee repeater + "Elvis" or ski floor (8)
- Kick-straddle + walk home over the top (8)
- 3 Stomps, rock-back on floor (opt: power switch) (8)
- 2 Alternating single kicks or kick-walk-back-kick (opt: hopturn on floor) (8)
(Pre-base: 3-knee repeater + 2 basics)
Base Pattern:
- Part 1: 5-knee repeater + 1 basic (16)
- Part 2: 3 stomps, rock-back (8)
- Part 3: 2 alternating single kicks (8)
Progression:
- 1. Pre-base (something very cue & do): 3-knee repeater + 2 basics
- 2. Change to 5-knee repeater + 1 basic
- 3. 2-knees repeat + "Elvis" knee-twist on floor (low impact option) + single knee + basic
- 4. Demo X-ctry ski on floor in place of "Elvis" for intensity/impact option
- 5. Change last knee to a kick
- 6. Demo kick-straddle & walk home in place of kick + basic
Isolate Part 2:
- 7. Introduce 3 stomps "on the spot" + rock-back on floor and temporarily add a 3-knee repeater to change the lead.
- 8. Demo power switch option for the stomps*
- 9. Add Parts 1 & 2 together, + add the base for Part 3
- 10. Take second kick to floor for kick-walk-kick option
- 11. Demo a hopturn on floor in place of second kick
* right foot stomps southwest corner (1), march 2 left, right with hop (2-and), left foot stomps SE corner (3), march 2 right, left with hop (4-and), right foot stomps southwest corner (5) + rock back on floor. The stomps happen on counts 1-3-5 whether someone chooses to do them on the spot, or switch corners with the power option. Everyone is back together on counts 5-8.
