Beginning/Intermediate #2 from Jacque
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 16991)
Here is another pattern that works well with beginners/intermediates. I emphasize staying with whatever part of the progression is working for them - that it isn't necessary to do every option.
32 counts, tapfree, reversing. Horizontal platform.
Feel free to email me with questions. Jacque
Final:
- L-knee-lunge, across-lunge, across-lunge, knee exit home (16)*
- 4 Stomps (low impact) or 4 quick-overs (intensity/impact) (8)
- Revolving door (8)
(Pre-base: 3-knee repeater + 2 basics)
Base Pattern:
- 7-Knee repeater + 4 basics (32)
Progression:
- 1. Begin with the pre-base, then expand to 7-knee repeater + 4 basics.
- 2. Take repeater off the end. Exit home on knee 7 + 4 basics as before.
- 3. Demo lunges on knees 2,4,6 (without going across) - exit home on knee 7 + 4 basics at home as before.
- 4. Go across top on counts 5,6 to lunge on the other side. Come back across on counts 9, 10. Do last lunge with class & exit home on knee 7 + 4 basics.
- 5. Change last 2 basics to full revolving door.
- 6. Demo 4 stomps at corner in place of first 2 basics. Finish with revolving door.
- 7. Demo power option: 4 quick-overs in place of 4 stomps. **
* Lunges: the toes of the extended leg are on the platform & you are lunging on the outside leg, away from the platform.
** Quick-overs: go across top on 1-and-2, 3-and-4, 5-and-6, 7-and-8.
